3-Ingredient Guacamole with Lime Essential Oil

essential oils May 22, 2017

Over the years I have grown to love avocados especially when prepared as guacamole. When prepared with whole-food ingredients, guacamole is one of the healthiest condiments, spreads, and dips that you can make.

Avocados offer numerous health benefits, so you definitely want to incorporate this fruit into your diet.

Avocados are the only fruit that provides a substantial amount of healthy monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA). They are a naturally nutrient-dense food and contain nearly 20 vitamins and minerals.

Avocados are a great source of vitamins C, E, K, and B-6, as well as riboflavin, niacin, folate, pantothenic acid, magnesium and potassium. They also provide lutein, beta-carotene and omega-3 fatty acids.

They are full of healthy, beneficial fats that help to keep you full and satiated. When you consume fat, your brain receives a signal to turn off your appetite. Eating fat slows the breakdown of carbohydrates into sugar, which helps to keep sugar levels in your blood stable.

Healthy fat is essential for every single cell in your body. In fact, over sixty percent of your brain is made of fat. Eating healthy fats supports skin health, enhances the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins, minerals and other nutrients, and may even help boost your immune system.

So, don’t shy away from this incredibly healthy, nutrient-dense fruit. Guacamole is a healthy, guilt-free snack.

Up until recently the idea of making guacamole seemed too complicated, so I would just buy it pre-made at Whole Foods. However, now I love making guacamole because I’ve discovered that it can be incredibly simple and very cost-effective.

The key ingredient in this recipe is just a few drops of lime essential oil. It adds the most amazing flavor and puts all other guacamole to shame. You’ve got to try it for yourself.

Servings – 4 (double or triple the recipe based on your needs)

Ingredients

  • 2 avocados
  • ¼ tsp sea salt (or more for your desired taste)
  • 5 drops lime essential oil
  • Optional: juice from ½ lime (citric acid will help avocados from turning brown)

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients in bowl and mix together.
  2. Tip: I like to use a potato masher. It makes it so easy!
  3. Serve with these delicious grain free tortilla chips.

NOTE: Before ingesting any essential oil be sure to read the label. Not all oils are created equally  and most are not approved for internal use because there is something synthetic or impure in the oil. I only use and recommend doTERRA essential oils due to their purity and the research supporting the safety of their oils.
