Dairy-Free Cherry Vanilla Ice Cream

nutrition Oct 17, 2016

If you follow a dairy-free diet, then one thing you may be missing is ice cream. I mean, who doesn’t love ice cream, right? While there are many dairy-free ice cream brands in the grocery store, many of the ingredients are not all that great.

So, we’ve started making our own ice cream. It’s really quite easy, you can create your own flavors, and you can keep the ingredients super simple.

We kind of stumbled upon this cherry vanilla ice cream recipe. We’d been making our delicious chocolate peanut butter ice cream, and Ben wanted something different. He actually created this recipe, so all credit goes to him! We had some cherries on hand and decided to give it a try.

It turned out to be a hit, and he’s made it several times since. You can use either fresh cherries or frozen cherries. Just make sure you remove the seeds from the fresh ones. 🙂 We also add some wild orange essential oil. This is optional, but I highly recommend it.

We even served this to our nieces and nephews, and they loved it! It’s totally kid-approved.
